Rolando Arturo Leiva has worked extensively in fields such as Social Anthropology and History; in the investigation of unpublished Archives; independent Professional Consulting, as a Social Anthropologist; and in perfoming academic activity, as a university professor. Simultaneously in Journalism, -within correspondent and editorial articles-, as in the field of Journalistic Edition, together with the Authorship of books and scientific articles, as Historian and Social Anthropologist. He has participated in the edition of different books as General Editor, and in the literary activity oriented to the novel and poetry.
Graduate and Postgraduate
Dr. Leiva graduated as a Magister of Anthropology at the University of Chile, Santiago, receiving the Maximum Distinction note. He completed the full Cycle of Doctoral Studies in Political Science, as the main discipline, and Ethnology and Sociology, as adjacent disciplines, at the Heidelberg University, Germany. He graduated as Doctor, PhD, in Latin American Studies and Cultural Anthropology at the FU Berlin University, obtaining a Magna Cum Laude mark for his Doctoral Thesis, and Cum Laude as his final PhD grade. His doctoral thesis has been permanently published on the website of the FU Berlin University, scoring until recently more than 500 thousand visits.
Employment
Dr Leiva has been an independent Consultant for Private Sector Companies as a Social Anthropologist. He has also been a Consultant for various United Nations Agencies, such as UNFPA, CEPAL, CIME, FAO. He was Professor at the University of Chile and the University of La Frontera, Temuco, Chile. Likewise, Correspondent journalist for various media, and Journalistic Editor. He has also been Editor of various books, as well as Author, Writer, and translator into Spanish from English and German.
Books and Articles
Dr Leiva has published two books and a Reader-Book on subjects of History and Social Anthropology. He has been author of around 250 newspaper articles, -correspondents and editorial articles, interviews and special reports-, some translated into various languages; of 9 scientific additional articles within fields of History and Anthropology, one of them translated into Italian, and another appeared as an Internal Publication of the United Nations, CEPAL. He has also been author of an extensive Historical Novel and a children's book of poetry.
Foreign Languages and International Experience
Currently residing permanently in Germany for around 33 years, Dr Leiva has extensive international experience and links with different countries, above all with France, Italy and the English world, being also countries in which he has occasionally spent some periods of residence. He maintains also strong ties with Latin America, highlighting in particular Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, having a huge knowledge and interest regarding folk music from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Argentina. Dr Leiva speaks and writes fluently Spanish, English, French, Italian and German.
